Children First Preschool News

Yes, we are back in school!  This year we have one 5’s class, two classes of 4’s, two classes of 3’s, two classes of 2’s, and one class of one-year-olds.  We have a staff of nine.  We have a couple of slots open in our 3’s and 5’s if you know of anyone who is looking for a preschool home.

We were recertified as a School of Excellence in April.  Let me tell you what this means.  Desiring to guarantee quality preschool education within all Methodist churches, the North GA Conference began a rigorous certification program.  The process reviews every aspect of our program from emergency preparedness, classroom planning, building safety, etc., culminating with an onsite inspection.  We went through this the first time three years ago and became a School of Excellence.

Please help the Preschool with some easy fundraising.  Collect the Box Tops on the top or sides of General Mills cereal, Pillsbury items, Betty Crocker, Ziploc, Kleenex, and Viva paper towels.  Each little square coupon is worth 10 cents.  Please save these and put them in the box marked ‘Box Tops’ which is located outside the Preschool classrooms or drop them by the church office.  We are collecting empty ink cartridges, too.  They are worth $1.00—$5.00 each!  We also have a need in the Preschool for a Scholarship Fund.  We have a single mom who has run into some difficult times and needs some help with tuition.  In the past, different situations from illnesses, loss of employment, foster children, etc., have come up and we have had the need for extra funds.  If you would like to donate to this Scholarship Fund, please make your check out to the church and mark it ‘Scholarship Fund.’  Thanks for your help.

Please keep our teachers and children in your prayers as they continue to learn more about God’s world.
