Gil McGinnis was born in Birmingham,
Alabama but has lived most of his life in Carrollton, GA,
where his family still lives. He graduated from West
Georgia College with a B.B.A. in Marketing. He was called
to the ministry in 1987, and attended seminary at Candler
School of Theology at Emory University where he received
his Masters in Divinity.
Gil came to Ellijay First United Methodist Church in June, 2005 after serving North Springs United Methodist Church. His other appointments include the Forsyth First UMC, Emerson Circuit (Emerson UMC and Oak Grove UMC) 1989-91, Associate Pastor at Thomson First UMC 1991-94, Georgia College Wesley Foundation and Montpelier UMC 1994-99. Gil has been married for 13 years to Melanie, who is the daughter of retired pastor Rev. Dean Kring of the North GA Conference. They have a three year old son Finn.
Hobbies include, reading, traveling,
playing drums, and sea kayaking.
