Adults
Adult Ministries
Ellijay First United Methodist Church has a variety of groups and ministries to foster connection with each other and God. In addition to the Women’s and Men’s groups, we also have a Stephen Ministry program and Grief Support program. Please contact the church office and we will be glad to find the connection for you.
Young Adults
Young Adult Bible Studies take place weekly on Wednesdays at 7:00pm to give those ages 18-35ish an opportunity to look deeper into God’s word and how to apply it to young adult life. Nursery is available and free of charge. There is also an active Young Adult Committee that plans seasonal activities and outings.

Men and Women
United Women in Faith
The purpose of United Women in Faith is to help each other know God and experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ, to develop a creative, supportive fellowship and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church. Currently meeting as the Joyful Noon Circle on the 3rd Tuesday of each month at noon.
United Methodist Men
The purpose of the United Methodist Men is to declare the centrality of Christ in every man’s life. This is expressed in prayer, daily bible study, witness to Christ in daily work and relationship, and intentional service to others. We want men to know Christ so others know Christ. Meetings are held the 2nd Tuesday of the month at Burger King at 8:00am.
Singles/Mingles
This is a fellowship of mature adults who have found themselves single through divorce or the death of a spouse. The weekly Christian environment develops friendships and relationships with others. The group strives to minister to those in the group through spiritual programs, spiritual opportunities, recreation, and service projects.

Community Ministries
Gilmer Warming Center
During the winter months, the Warming Center provides overnight shelter to those in need. A meal is served to the guests as well as providing cots and sleeping gear. Volunteers spend the night with the guests and provide the meal. This summer, the Warming Shelter expanded to include a Cooling Shelter during the hottest part of the day to those who needed respite from the sweltering heat. More volunteers are always needed for these ministries.
New Beginnings
This ministry is dedicated to providing temporary housing to families in Gilmer County to awaken hope, honor, and dignity to those in need. Our focus is on individuals or families that are experiencing homelessness or financial difficulties that prevent them from caring for themselves. This ministry is supported by various churches in Gilmer County including Ellijay First United Methodist Church.
Stephen Ministries
The Stephen Ministry offers care and support for people experiencing life difficulties such as death of a loved one, job crisis, aging, separation or divorce, long term illness, or for those needing the support of a Christian friend.
Grief Support
We all face grief at critical times in our lives. Everyone’s journey has unique details, but the journey is familiar to all of us.
Paula Acree begins a confidential grief support group each quarter and offers encouraging direction in finding our way through times of loss. For information on the next group opportunity please call the church office at 706-635-2555.
